Shake Shack’s opens second Jersey City eatery on April 27

One of New York’s most iconic burger shops is ready for its downtown Jersey City debut. As reported by the Shake Shack at 318 Grove Street will open Thursday, April 27 at 11am. This is the second Shake Shack in Jersey City after another outpost opened in Newport Mall late last year.

Last June, the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) confirmed via an Instagram post that Shake Shack would be taking over the space formerly occupied by Subway on the corner of Grove and Columbus. On Wednesday, April 26, the Grove Street Shake Shack opened to a private event, but confirmed they would open to the public on April 27.

Shack Shake originally started as a hot dog cart inside New York’s Madison Square Park in 2001. In 2004, it evolved into a kiosk with hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, and milkshakes. Since then, the fast-casual chain has expanded with outposts throughout the country. This will be Shake Shack’s second Jersey City location, although the Shake Shack food truck has operated in Jersey City multiple times in the past. In addition, their Hoboken location at 111 Washington Street also delivers to JC.
