In 2019, brothers Bill and Vincent Vallely opened a very successful sandwich shop in the Hamilton Square Courtyard that would end up turning into a larger scale market. Cangiano’s, a specialty italian marketplace, is located on the corner of Erie Street and Pavonia Avenue, right in the heart of Hamilton Park.
Cangiano’s announced their opening in April, all while coronavirus was at its height. It was clear that it would be a soft opening, but aided Jersey City during the time when it was a struggle to get groceries. The store had limited hours, restricted customers, and had a limited selection of standard grocery items and Italian goods. By the time November rolled around, it was clear that Cangiano was the perfect addition to the neighborhood and a wild success.
Visit Cangiano’s website, catering menu, or a sneak peek of the daily menu on its online ordering site. You can also follow Cangiano’s on Instagram at @cangianos_jersey_city. The market is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
