Prato Bakery is set to open a third location, this time in Downtown Jersey City. The first Prato Bakery, located at 371 4th street in Jersey City downtown, opened in 2015 after a four years experience in the West Village in New York City. The goal of each location has always been the same: to bring the Italian and Tuscan authentic baking tradition to the US.
The bakery will be taking over where Bucket & Bay Craft Gelato Co. used to be, located at 150 Bay Street in Jersey City. Renovations will come in the near future given that Bucket & Bay’s sign is still up and the windows are completely closed off from the public’s views. Bucket & Bay sadly did not survive during the pandemic.
The shop will offer the same menu with some additional new items. A larger kitchen space will provide this location with the opportunity of a larger menu.
The new location will have the same owner, Simone Bertini, who also is a baker. Simone and his wife opened the 4th Street Jersey City location in 2015 after being in West Village in New York City for four years. The name of the bakery derives from Simone’s hometown of Prato – a province in the Tuscany region of Italy. Prato’s mission is to give those who enter an authentic Italian experience.
