Jersey City Connects is hosting a beginner watercolor workshop called Ocean Waves Watercolor Day on Saturday, August 8, from noon to 3 p.m. at 902 Brewing Co. in Jersey City. The class is part of the group’s Art Exploration Night series.

Participants will paint a coastal scene using layered washes and flowing brushwork meant to capture the movement of ocean waves. The class is designed for those with no prior painting experience, and instruction will cover building depth through soft color layers, shaping waves and sea foam, and using watercolor’s natural bleed to bring a sense of motion to the piece.
