Like many others at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, young couple Natalie Hunter and James Romano found themselves separated and frustrated while living at home with their respective parents as they tried to navigate a new world of remote work. Originally from Fairfield and North Caldwell, New Jersey, they recently decided to upgrade their quarantine surroundings together as they set out to find a brand-new apartment, all their own.
In search of space and new construction, the couple knew they wanted an urban location that would provide great proximity to shops, dining and more. They set their sights exclusively on Jersey City, which is known for its eclectic mix of restaurants, culture and entertainment. They also hoped to find a building with top-notch amenities that could complement their busy lifestyle.
“We knew exactly what we were looking for,” Ms. Hunter said. “James wanted to live in a city, and we have friends and family close by in the area. Permanently working from home gave us the opportunity to live wherever we wanted. Jersey City checked all our boxes.”
They started their search with rental properties in downtown Jersey City but did not find one that offered everything they were looking for in a brand-new home. Disappointed by the homes they had already toured, the couple debated ending their search for the day, but decided that 100 House on Jersey City’s Hoboken border would be their last stop.
They found that the upscale collection of 137 apartments, developed by BNE Real Estate Group, Hoboken Brownstone Company and McKinney Properties, with spacious floorplans and a full package of world-class amenities inside and out, fulfilled all their needs and so much more.
“After touring buildings all day, 100 House was last on our list to view. We almost didn’t go see it,” Ms. Hunter said. “Thankfully, we did. We were immediately blown away by the beautiful design of the building and knew we would call it home.”
The couple decided on a spacious one-bedroom residence with a much-desired in-home washer & dryer and other stylish features found throughout all of 100 House’s residences, including nine-foot ceilings, plank flooring, white quartz countertops in kitchens and baths, espresso cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, gas ranges and side-by-side refrigerators, wine racks and coveted private outdoor space in select apartments.
They also loved that the community offers over 35,000 square feet of impressive indoor and outdoor social and recreational spaces, including, boasting a 24-hour concierge, elegant lobby lounge with coffee bar, resident lounge with screening room, game lounge, bowling alley, multi-sport simulator, co-working spaces with private offices, movie theatre, private dining room with catering kitchen, dog spa and fully-equipped fitness center with virtual exercise programs. A sprawling second-floor outdoor sun terrace also features private barbeque and dining areas, outdoor bar, games, and lounge seating. Additional conveniences include Amazon package lockers, complimentary shuttle service to the Hoboken PATH Station, covered on-site parking, a dedicated Lyft pick-up spot and nearby Citi Bikes.
100 House residents also have access to shared amenities located in its sister building next door at The Enclave, including a rooftop heated pool, private poolside cabanas, fireside seating, and more.
“We knew we needed enough space so that we wouldn’t be on top of each other all the time, and the amenity package at 100 House granted us an unmatched amount of space outside our home,” said Ms. Hunter.
Located at 100 Hoboken Avenue, 100 House lies in what is fast becoming Jersey City’s most popular new neighborhood, where upscale rental homes in modern residential buildings combine with retail services and the impending introduction of more green space. At the social and recreational heart of the neighborhood will be the 1.5-acre Coles Street Park. Currently under construction, the professionally landscaped park will include an enclosed playground, two separate dog runs, open areas, and a performance stage. A second park – called Emerson Park – is also in the works.
At residents’ fingertips is also a wealth of shops, services, and nightlife in neighboring Hoboken, as well as the dining, entertainment, and cultural scene in downtown Jersey City.
The Marketing Directors, the exclusive marketing and leasing agent for 100 House, has opened the building’s leasing program from an on-site leasing office with fully furnished model homes merchandised by renowned interior designer Childs Dreyfus Group of Chicago. Monthly rents at the building start from the $1,900s with incentives of up to four months free.
