Initial Occupancy Scheduled for April for new 309-Unit Rental Building
Leasing is underway for 295J, a new 309-unit rental building that further cements Bergen-Lafayette’s emergence as one of Jersey City’s hottest new residential destinations.
Located at 295 Johnston Avenue, 295J delivers modern residences and thoughtfully curated amenities to this historic and culturally rich community which is imbued with an existing street-art vibe. Lying just west of Downtown Jersey City, the neighborhood marries a convenient location easily accessible to Manhattan, the Hudson River waterfront and Liberty State Park with a dynamic art, dining and nightlife scene.
“We’re excited to officially open 295J in a neighborhood that has a unique character and desirable lifestyle attributes,” said David Barry, President of Ironstate Development Company, which developed 295J in partnership with Brookfield and Landmark Development. “We expect our residents to explore and enjoy the local fabric of the neighborhood while also taking advantage of the adjacent Light Rail Station that will conveniently connect them to Downtown Jersey City and additional public transportation options into Manhattan.”
Designed by BKSK Architects in partnership with Executive Architect Kitchen & Associates, the new five-story steel-and-brick-clad building references the industrial style of the immediate area, with variations in the materials breaking the massing down to a residential scale. Inside, the interiors continue to reflect industrial cues from the neighborhood. The lobby serves as a refined living room, where walls display large pieces of art tied back to the local artist community. Residential corridors are softened with moments of artistic graphic wall coverings unique to each floor, and doors are accentuated with dark grey full height surrounds and pinspot lighting displaying brass apartment numbers.
A collection of stylishly appointed studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts is available at monthly rents starting from $1,910. Initial occupancy is scheduled for April. Each apartment features keyless entrance technology, large windows to maximize natural light, kitchens with modern Whirlpool appliances and Caesarstone grey countertops, in-home Whirlpool washer/dryers and individual heating/cooling systems.
Shared amenity and social spaces designed to foster natural opportunities for residents to meet and interact include an art-filled lobby with 24/7 Concierge service and Amazon lockers, a fully equipped fitness center, and The Study, a cozy resident lounge ideal for working at home. Outside, a heavily landscaped courtyard by Belgian landscape designers at Bureau Bas Smets is home to a pool, BBQ grills, fire pits and ping pong. The pet-friendly building also features a dog-wash station and a rooftop dog run with views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Covered parking is available at ground level.
Living at 295J also means access to a thoughtful line-up of gatherings and events created and hosted by the in-house property management team. The complimentary monthly events, which will take place throughout 295J’s social spaces and off-site at local restaurants, will include pop-up style get-togethers over coffee, cocktails and food.
Residents will also appreciate 295J’s location near a number of neighborhood recreational, dining and entertainment pursuits. The building is situated just a few blocks from Communipaw Avenue, the area’s business corridor that offers hip and authentic bars, eateries, shops and everyday conveniences, including The Grind Shop, the widely popular Pacific Pizza, Harry’s Daughter Gastro Pub, and more. Liberty State Park is virtually 295J’s backyard, offering more than 1,200 acres of public open space, while the Liberty Science Center offers an ever-evolving interactive museum experience, the largest and most technologically advanced planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, and the innovative $280 million Sci-Tech City opening in a few years.
The neighborhood is also home to Pacific Flea, an open-air market with fine craft, antique and vintage items, live music, curated art shows, outdoor street art and rotating food trucks. Berry Lane Park features baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, a playground and a skate park. For convenient neighborhood exploring, a Citi Bike Station is located adjacent to the property with 22 shared bikes and direct access to Liberty State Park. Downtown Jersey City, Hoboken and Manhattan are easily reached via the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Liberty Park Station which is just steps from 295J. Nearby Route 78 provides a pathway to the Holland Tunnel, as well as points west.
295J is located at 295 Johnston Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07304. More information can be found at www.295J.com.
