Liberty Humane Society, located at 235 Jersey City Blvd, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of it’s new dog play area. Former Senator Robert Torricelli was on hand for the celebration.
The run will help shelter pups to get all the exercise they need to be happy, healthy dogs. The play area will also be available for potential adopters to meet them since some dogs can get very excited in their cages which might overwhelm an adopter. The added benefit is that they will also be tired and more calm in their cages when people come to check them out. Liberty Humane serves more than 650 dogs per year.
The shelter’s first ever dog run has an agility course and space for the dogs to interact with other dogs and humans alike. A well-socialized shelter dog is more easily adoptable.
Tracie Strahan from NBC’s 4 New York reports on the ribbon cutting and you can see the video here.
