This Weekend, Comedy Goes to the Dogs

Starting on April 28, 2016, the NJ Funnyfest will feature premier stand-up comics from the NY/NJ Metro area performing at local venues in Hoboken, NJ. Portions of the proceeds from each ticket will go to support Liberty Humane Society (LHS) in their mission to help local animals in need. Donation jars will also go out during events to collect extra funds!

Comma D Productions, which takes a huge part in organizing the festival, has been a long-time supporter of LHS – often fundraising at shows and comedy festivals throughout the country. In the past four years these amazing events have raised over $8000 for the live-saving work of LHS!

Please go have some fun, get some laughs, and know that you’re having a good time and helping homeless animals!

We Cheer for Beer!

2015-11-11_12-41-11Jersey City’s own Liberty Humane Society will hold its 3rd Annual Craft Beer Festival this coming Saturday, November 14th starting at 1pm.

The event will be held at the Hoboken Elks Club (That’s the Benevolent & Protective Order, of course!) at 1005 Washington Street in Hoboken.

Celebrate the season by tasting more than fifteen seasonal craft beers and sampling food from local restaurants.  Enter your prize pie in our pie tasting competition.  50/50 raffle, music, games and more!  Tickets $30 in advance- $35 at the door.

The event will directly benefit the homeless animals from Jersey City, Hoboken, and Bayonne that reside at Liberty Humane Society.

Guests will be treated to tastings of a selection of more than 15 fall-themed craft beers provided by Hunterdon Brewing.

Going to the Dogs!

2015-08-11_13-38-30Liberty Humane Society, located at 235 Jersey City Blvd, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of it’s new dog play area. Former Senator Robert Torricelli was on hand for the celebration.

The run will help shelter pups to get all the exercise they need to be happy, healthy dogs. The play area will also be available for potential adopters to meet them since some dogs can get very excited in their cages which might overwhelm an adopter. The added benefit is that they will also be tired and more calm in their cages when people come to check them out. Liberty Humane serves more than 650 dogs per year.

The shelter’s first ever dog run has an agility course and space for the dogs to interact with other dogs and humans alike. A well-socialized shelter dog is more easily adoptable.

Tracie Strahan from NBC’s 4 New York reports on the ribbon cutting and you can see the video here.
