Time for Fall Cocktails

fall-cocktail-recipe-chowhound-670x446Autumn/ Winter Cocktails from Jersey City’s Piggyback Bar and NYC’s Pig and Khao

As we pack start to pack away our summer essentials  and pull out the sweaters and boots, it’s also time to switch up the bar cart and replace those fruity, light flavors with deeper, warmer profiles. Ben Byruch, operations manager and beverage curator of Jersey City’s Piggyback Bar and NYC’s Pig and Khao, has put together cocktails that showcase these warm and seasonal flavors.

We would love for you to consider their cocktails in any fall cocktail recipe roundups you may be working on.

  • Stinky Peat – A fan favorite at Pig and Khao, the cocktail is an infusion of chamomile rye and elderflower, providing a pleasant, flowery taste cut with a subtle, smoky bite from a scotch rinse.
  • Winter Root – This creation is ideal for the fall/winter months and offers spicier notes from its base of ginger whiskey and the signature, housemade five spice blend syrup featuring hints of clove, anise, all spice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Topped with a quick dash of Peychaud’s bitters, the cocktail is truly fall in a glass.

The best Jersey City restaurants

via TimeOut – Just a hop, skip and a jump away from downtown Manhattan, there are plenty of things to do in Jersey City. Sitting right on the Hudson, the bustling enclave has also become a culinary hub in its own right, complete with waterfront restaurants and barsfine-dining restaurants and a critically acclaimed pizza joint slinging pies that (gasp) rival those across the river at the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Whether you’re in the mood for Filipino or French, check out our guide to the best Jersey City restaurants for your next destination dining.

Ben Byruch and chef Leah Cohen, proprietors of acclaimed Lower East Side Southeast Asian eatery Pig & Khao, debuted this pan-Asian gastropub concept in September 2017. The menu here is naturally playful—think mapo tofu-inspired chili dogs, kimchi pulled-pork and Filipino spring rolls, or lumpia—to go along with a selection of 12 on-tap brews. Beyond the plate, the best part of eating here is grabbing a sidewalk table to soak up right-on-the-water views of the Manhattan skyline from Harborside, the sprawling development in which the restaurant is located.
