Nimbus Dance Closes Its Spring Season With a World Premiere This May

Nimbus Dance is presenting Sum of Parts, a world premiere production running May 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. as part of the company’s Spring Season in Jersey City.

The program brings together four contemporary dance works, choreographers from four countries, a newly composed choral score performed live by 30 voices, and the words of eight Jersey City icons — all in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The centerpiece of the evening is A Land, A Promise, a world premiere work by Princess Grace Award-winning choreographer Houston Thomas, set to an original choral score composed by Saunder Choi and performed live by the West Village Chorale. The program also features works by Pedro Ruiz and Yoshito Sakuraba, along with the return of Through the Golden Door, a piece created with bestselling author Helene Stapinski and longtime Jersey City residents and culturemakers Mary Aiken, Sam Pesin, Ben Jones, Juan Cartagena, Tina Maneca, Catherine Hecht, Joe Waks, and Danielle Scott.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for youth under 18 and seniors 65 and older at the general level, with premium seating available at $42 for adults and $35 for youth and seniors. For tickets, visit the Nimbus Dance website.
