Light Up the Loop Night Bike Ride Returns to Jersey City on May 8

The 9th Annual Light Up the Loop Night Bike Ride is back in Jersey City on Friday, May 8, 2026, and it’s completely free to attend. Organized by Hudson County, the event kicks off at 7:15 p.m. at Washington Park, near the tennis courts on New York Avenue.

Riders looking to join a feeder group can meet earlier at 6:45 p.m. at Grove Street Path Plaza. The full route covers approximately 17.5 miles, traveling to JJ Braddock Park and back along the scenic Hudson County River Waterfront — rated at an intermediate level, so some cycling experience is helpful.

Part of what makes this ride unique is the HC Urban Adventures component, which invites participants to check in at Hudson County landmarks along the route to earn points and win prizes. Riders are also encouraged to deck out their bikes with lights and wear colorful attire to match the festive atmosphere of the evening.

The event runs until 10 p.m., and a rain date has been set for Saturday, May 9, at the same start and end times. Spots can be reserved through Eventbrite.
