The wait is over for Bayonne residents and shoppers who’ve been eagerly anticipating the opening of Starbucks at Harbor View Marketplace.

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, fellow municipal officials, and developers JMF Properties and RD Management joined Starbucks representatives on Monday, Oct. 19th, to celebrate the debut of the gourmet coffeehouse. The store’s full menu of beverages and food items is now available to both walk-in and drive-thru customers.

“On behalf of the City of Bayonne, I would like to welcome Starbucks to our community,” Mayor Davis said. “The decision by Starbucks to locate here demonstrates that Bayonne is a desirable market in the metropolitan area.  We are happy that Bayonne is providing Starbucks with one of its carefully chosen locations.”

Located at 26 Goldsborough Drive, just off of Route 440, Starbucks is the newest business to open at Harbor View Marketplace, the brand-new shopping center at Military Ocean Terminal that is delivering 240,000 square feet of retail space to the Bayonne Waterfront. It joins Costco Bayonne, a 157,000 square-foot store and 18-pump Costco gas station that opened last March. Other businesses slated to open soon include LA Fitness, Lidl grocery, CVS Pharmacy, and Posh Nails & Beauty Lounge.

“This is a perfect example of what can happen when the City and a developer work together toward a common goal,” said Joseph M. Forgione, Founder and Principal of JMF Properties. “The City of Bayonne, under the leadership of Mayor Davis, has been instrumental in helping us deliver businesses like Costco and Starbucks to the community in a timely manner. Starbucks is an excellent fit for the retail mix we are curating here with our partner RD Management and we believe they will be very successful in this location.”

“We’re thrilled to have Starbucks as part of the diverse mix of national tenants at Harbor View Marketplace,” said Richard Birdoff, principal and president of RD Management. “We, alongside JMF Properties, believe this live-work-play development will become a top-tier destination and fulfill the lifestyle needs of the Bayonne community.”

Harbor View Marketplace is located in an Urban Enterprise Zone on a fast-developing stretch of the Bayonne waterfront, a heavily trafficked area with 37,000 cars passing daily, and only 500 yards from the 14A exit on the New Jersey Turnpike. The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail 34th Street Station is across the street, making the center easily accessible by transit. Also, Cape Liberty Port, located directly behind Harbor View Marketplace, has the second-largest passenger volume among Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coast ports and recently completed a $50 million expansion that is expected to increase the passenger volume to 600,000 per year.

In addition to Harbor View Marketplace, JMF Properties, RD Management and Accurate Builders and Developers are developing a multifamily residential community on Military Ocean Terminal just steps from the new Starbucks. Known as ScenicVue, the residential development will feature 651 luxury rental residences with upscale amenities, rooftop terraces, walking paths and sweeping views of the picturesque Bayonne Golf Club from many of the units. A brand-new commuter ferry terminal, offering service to Manhattan, is under construction near the property and will offer future renters a convenient way to cross the Hudson River just steps from their front door.
