On October 14 and 15, 2017, more than 150 artist studios, galleries, museums and other art-activated venues across Jersey City will be inviting the public in to enjoy and purchase art in all forms of media. As the second largest city in New Jersey, Jersey City is a hot pot of imaginative creators. During the JCAST weekend, thousands of residents and visitors from the tri-state area will engage with more than 500 of these talented individuals on their own turf.

The weekend includes live performances, curated bus, bike and walking tours of indoor and outdoor art in every neighborhood (Jersey City boasts more than 100 public murals alone), live music, panel discussions, dance performances, and so much more! Complimentary shuttle buses will be driving tour-goers throughout the city from noon to 6 PM both days, to ensure that they can view exhibits with ease and comfort. All JCAST events are free and open to the public.

The JCAST weekend will kick off with an evening reception, Friday, October 13, 6 to 9 PM, at the illustrious Mack-Cali Harborside Atrium, 210 Hudson Street, located near the Hudson River waterfront and Exchange Place PATH station.

The event is open to the public and will feature live music, demonstrations, live painting, coloring book art, etc.; allowing JCAST artists an opportunity to let loose after months of hard preparatory work while interacting with their art fans. Attendees will have a sneak-peak at the Pro Arts exhibit, which will be showcasing in a gallery adjacent to the Atrium.

The weekend will culminate with an artists’ reception on Sunday, October 15, 5 to 8 PM, at the stunning Hudson County Community College Department of Cultural Affairs’ Benjamin J. Dineen III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery, located in Journal Square.

The gallery will be featuring a show called “Each State of the Mind is Irreducible: Spanish & Latin Artists,” including artists based in Mana Contemporary New Jersey (on Newark Avenue in Jersey City) and Chicago. Mana Contemporary is dedicated to providing a platform for contemporary art and artists through exhibitions, studio programs and public programs.

The Jersey City Art & Studio Tour is presented by Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs.
