The new store will be grand-opening this Friday at 321 Marin Blvd near the Grove St. PATH. The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) and Mayor Steve Fulop will be on hand for the event.
“I think Jersey City has great potential and I believe that (people from) Jersey City deserve better quality products,” says Master Chocolatier Eric Girerd.
“In France, ‘L’Atelier’ means a place where artists and chocolatiers meet and communicate with people. I just wanted to build closer connections with communities using my chocolate and pastries,” he added.
Girerd, a third-generation chocolatier who has worked at 3-star Michelin restaurants around the world, launched EGChocolate Corporation and opened the first L’Atelier du chocolat at 59 West 22nd St. in New York City in 2002. Over the past 13 years, he has become renowned for his extensive use of cocoa beans in his menu items, which includes salted caramel chocolate truffles, hazelnut spreads, and roasted almonds.
