Check out the exhibit “Making Art Dance: Backdrops and Costumes Celebrating 30 Years of the Armitage Foundation” at  Mana Contemporary in Jersey City. The show honors renowned choreographer Karole Armitage’s collaborations with fashion designers and artists and runs from now through March 13th.

Armitage, a classically trained ballerina, has choreographed countless ballets, operas and other productions, including music videos for Madonna and Michael Jackson, Hair on Broadway and Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna. Armitage’s dance company, Armitage Gone! Dance, has a permanent dance studio on the fourth floor of the Mana Contemporary building, featuring a glass wall that allows visitors to watch rehearsals. Armitage has collaborated with various fashion designers and artists including Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix and Jeff Koons.

Exhibit only viewable by guided tours; weekdays, 11 am, 2 & 4 pm. Glass Gallery, Mana Contemporary, 888 Newark Ave, Jersey City (800-842-4945, manacontemporary.com).
